Peter Dooley

Peter Dooley

Peter is a professional photographer based in South Africa and works mainly in black and white.

His father was himself an accomplished photographer and began teaching him about photography techniques from a very young age, while his mother, a Professor of Ikenobo – Japanese Floral Art – gave him a deep appreciation for composition, balance, and design. Their teachings have led him to create immersive artworks, that are elegant in their simplicity as well as deeply harmonious and inspiring.

Peter’s first digital image to gain a place of honour as the cover of a major magazine back in 2002 was of a Honey Bee on an orange Japanese Cosmos flower in his garden. Yet, despite the accolades this early nature art received, he spent many years in commercial photography, an area that while it fed his bank account, never truly fed his soul. Now, Peter has fully returned to his roots and offers his awe-inspiring works as Limited Edition prints.

His artwork is a tribute to the natural world, an examination of the conspicuous, the beautiful and the less so.
